Saturday morning, 6am. My iphone alarm releases its unwanted beeping. Its still dark and the rains are coming down quickly like a curtain to its stage. Cold and unwillingly i rolled out of bed. Today is my maiden journey in this storm to the Flemington Flower markets. As i donned my warmest attire, boots and all, ready to face what this storm was going to throw at me, i received an sms from Trish. ” morning….are you awake?” keke my immediate thought was, “shes canceling”. So i replied “with YES I AM, are we not going?”. To which she replied, “Of course we are, i’ll see you in 30mins”
HA! damn it ..my chance of climbing back into bed til the sun was well above me in this gloomy sky was out of the question. I grabbed Trish’s packed momo dinner, an eski and ran for the car. My drive to the the markets was not uneventful. A car turning onto my street hooked a right without checking his left, causing me to break hard. Wet roads meant i spun out and slid, luckily not hitting anything. The car, oblivious to what had just happened.. drove off and went on his merry way. Weekends and Rain bring the crazies out! i swear!
7:02, I am at the markets parked and ready to see the pretties. Little did i know that the flower section is totally separate to the produce section. So after a few descriptive messages to Trish about my surroundings, we realised i was at the wrong one.ÂÂ
Finally getting to the place at 7:20 after reparking and running for shelter from the rain we began flower shopping!!
What I bought:
Aren’t they pretty? They make me smile….
Sunday i experienced my first Italian food festival at the Marconi club in Bossley Park. Going there, i expected lots of food and culture. Whilst the Italian culture is strong at any Italian gathering, the food was so so. I wanted to see fresh home made pasta, never seen desserts, Authentic pizzas and mama mias with big rolling pins ![]()
I settled for a vegetarian deep fried calzone, calamari, a the works sausage roll and a Peroni beer.
What did make my day were the cars. A section at the back of this festival showcased a few Italian cars…
Later that night….
I made bread for the first time..
I had lots of firsts this week. Hope you had a great week too.

Love th colours!
